Academic Writing
This page presents both my research paper and analysis paper. The research paper was written for a Research and Technology course (sophomore year) and the analysis paper was written for a Writing course (sophomore year)
Purpose: The purpose of both papers was to bring theory to bear on data. This means that theories were tested for their explanatory power on data sets. In the research paper, which examined VLEs in HE, motivation, choice, and decision making theories were measured on interview data. In the analysis paper theories of writing – psycho, socio, techno – were used to characterize my writing practices.
Genre organization: Research paper – Literature review
Analysis paper - Excavation^ Analysis^ Transformation
Language features: RP- Formal – technical and specialized lexis, no author presence. AP – formal and informal mix – technical and specialized in the excavation but strong authorial presence
in the analysis and transformation part.

Process Analysis
Fall 2017, sophomore year
Introduction: The process analysis is to bring theory to bear on data. This means explanatory power of theory is measured on the data. Its weakness is also revealed.This essay demonstrates the different extents that psycho, socio and techno theories explain my academic and personal writing practice. It is written in my sophomore year.
